Moving costs.

U-Haul 17' Truck.

$400.

Gas for driving a 17' truck from Cincinnati to Chicago, estimating 15 miles per gallon, 300 miles, and $4.15 per gallon.

$83.

Hiring Bob's Muscle for Hire to move a two bedroom apartment from previously mentioned U-Haul truck up to a second floor apartment once I reach Chicago.

$135.

Estimated expense for move from Cincinnati to Chicago: $618.

Estimated number of nightmares I will have about having two cats shut in a small cage with me, myself, and a 17' moving truck making the drive from Cincinnati to Chicago?

So far, just one. But it involved the cats getting loose, having to throw Birdie back in the car, and accidently slamming the door on her and breaking her tiny cat back. And then having to put her down. And having to tell Mimi what had happened...any tips on drugging cats?

Update: Apparently, this is the type of advice available. Unfortunately, its target market is not humans.

The cat transit will be ok, I promise. Yitzak hates her carrier, but once on the road, she handled both the Mpls to Mwke and the Mwke to Cincy trips with zero drama. I suggest doping them up with catnip and making soothing kissy sounds whenever they yowl. And then ignoring them, because you are going 75 mph and have better things to pay attention to than their every comfort.

Yep. I second Nadarine.

Also, the same tips work well with children. Except for the catnip part.
