Mom again.

I called my mom on Saturday. Usually the beginning of our conversations go like this:

Mom: Hello?
Me: HELLO!
Mom: OHhhhhhHH! Hello!

And then we giggle and just chit chat away. She's such a good listener. But on Saturday, the conversation went like this:

Mom: Hello?
Me: HELLO!
Mom: ...hello....

And immediately I thought. Oh no. Something is dreadfully wrong. Someone is sick, the cancer has come back, or perhaps if it was winter someone is stuck in a ditch. Horrible.

Me: What's going on? Are you okay?
Mom: (sigh) Well. (sigh) The weather up here has just been really bad, and my plants...

OH! The plants. It's just the plants. Not cancer? Okay. But seriously, mom and her cohorts at the Botanical Society are having some serious problems getting their little baby plants to toddlerhood. So send her some warm weather this Mother's Day.
