Sidebar: my favorite interview in the Olympics so far has been with another correspondant who does short interest stories on the culture in China. She was interviewing these engineers who created that massive dam that relocated thousands of people and asked the guy "so...did you use any beavers in the process?" HA!

But Angry won last night! Woot woot! Very exciting. All of us non-gymnasts laying on the sofa drinking beer became experts on scoring, age restrictions, and let's face it, the history of the sport while getting wrapped up in the competition for best women's all around. What? She got a 15.43845794875948754895794 when the Chinese girl (who's totally eight years old, let's get real here) got a 15.67890987098798709870? THAT IS BUNK! We decided they should score like ice skating, so we can pin down the nationality of the judge taht is low-balling our graceful balls of furry and bounciness, Tiny and Angry.
Oh, and did you notice that Shawn Johnson, I'm sorry, TINY, did not pout or ignore her teammates when she got the silver (oops, not bronze as previously assumed)? She did her best and was happy after each performance. Love that sportsmanship.

Shawn Johnson, aka Tiny, got the silver, not bronze. The two Americans definitely performed better on and off the floor than they seemed to during the team event.
I've been impressed with Wikipedia's Olympic coverage. A few minutes after Phelps gets a gold, it's updated. Wonder about a Chinese gymnist (ie He), her bio is there along with the age controversy and its status. How about the 72 year old artist who did the logo and fuwes ("critters")? He's in there too along with info about each of the Fewas and how some Chinese believe they are tied to the big earthquake a few months ago. Bela, Phelps, Costas...they are all their too.
It did get rather late last night though, with the gold undecided until nearly midnight CDT. Poor Nydampress out east...Last night I was also wondering how TV coverage was scheduled in other parts of the world like Europe (-5 hours) and Australia (+3 hours?).
Oh man, last night was awesome. And what is better than a podium filled with SMILING girls? You know why? Cause they each did their absolute best. And it showed. And let's face it, an American getting a gold in gymnastics IS NOT THAT COMMON.
I love the Chinese girl's grin.
