What a great weekend.

I came home Friday at 3 p.m. thanks to something called "summer hours," and had a sinking feeling that Tim and I would get nothing at all done this weekend. In the past month we had sisters and brothers visit, which always create a sense of urgency for weekend entertainment. And ever since my sister visited and we walked about ten miles in one day, I feel like I haven't accomplished anything on Saturdays if my feet don't hurt.

What did we do on Friday? Nothing. Sat. Went to costco! Tim bought a wireless router, and then wrestled it for five hours. Jeez. While Tim was doing this, I went over to Kaye's apartment, said hello to dog Keen ("who's the dog? WHOOZ THE DAWG? WHOIZ? WHOIZ!"), ate hot dogs and potato chips, drank gin, and watched the opening ceremonies. Amazing how thousand of chinese citizens can make one perfect circle. And I loved all the fake slow motion running with wires, especially the little girl with the kite. Sigh.

What? Kaye was sleeping at 9:30? She didn't even watch the parade of nations or whatever it is called? Okay, she was tired. So Tim and I tip toed our dirty hot dog plates into the kitchen and snuck home to play mariokart wii with people across the world! How appropriate for the opening day of the Olympics, right?

Saturday. Ouch. NOTHING gets done, but Tim and I go on an adventure to a pawn shop (I really love them), eat some thai noodles, and then return in time to go to the Logan Theatre and watch WALL E (Tim went to Hancock, loser). WOW. I really, really loved WALL E, and would go back to see it again. It kinda brightened my whole feeling on, uh, Life? Definitely exceptional. It also made me want to see Hello Dolly.

After the movie (at 5 p.m.) we decided to explore the neighborhood. We walked up Milwaukee and witnessed the switch between hispanic and polish neighborhoods, bought some books at a thrift store, and checked out a couple polish bakeries and meaty delis. So, my walking need was fulfilled.

Saturday night I met my coworker to see her boyfriend's soul band at a bar within biking distance. Totally fun. Great crowd, great dancing, great gimlets. Yum. MADE my day. Yaaaaaay leaving the house in the evening!

Sunday. Hm. Gets a little foggy here. Woke up late in the morning...made some cornbread...hmmm...went to the beach! Yes. Brought snacks and sunscreen, and spent some excellent booty dolphin time. What's booty dolphin time? When you act like a three year old and DIIiiiiiiiIIIive head first over waves and squeal, but you're actually a grown up so you look a little silly. Um, really silly. But it's totally worth it. Took bus to and from lake, walked a bit more, and made it home in time for afternoon naps.

Grilled out for dinner, and friends Kaye, Mai, and Nate joined us for dawgs and watermelon. And lots of Olympic watching. It was really wonderful and relaxing, and we made fun of all the US gymnastic girls who looked really bitchy. They do! And Kaye and I reminisced about the days of Dominique Dawes. Dang.

And to bed by midnight, up and at em today. Two friends from Fargo are visiting this weekend and I am so excited! Obviously, lots of walking will be planned.
