Those six things.

I am waiting for Tim to wake up from his afternoon cat nap so I can take a bath and shave these muscular legs of mine. It's shorts time---we're going to see Feist tonight at Ravinia. I have no idea what to expect, except wine and cheese and blankets on lawns. Can't really complain.

A while ago, my sister tagged me to do the "six things they don't know about you" blog post, and recently so did my blogger/real life friend nadarine. So here it goes.

1. I am so over live music.

Yes. I really, really am. It is loud. There are always too few or too many people in attendance. It is rarely the type or genre of music I will want to hear twice. And further more, I can make my own music if I really want to to, so hey, I'm just over it. Especially folk and blues.

2. I think I am bad at small talk.

Or I should say, when I am aware it is simply "small talk," and both parties are truly wasting each other's time, I lose focus and retention.

3. Sometimes I wish I were in Fargo.

THERE I SAID IT! It's nice knowing where good friends are (to find) and stupid people are (to avoid), how few city blocks are between you and your immediate family, and where the nearest grocery, thrift, hardware, and liquor store are at all times. I don't care about the public transit. If we moved back I'd ride bike non-stop and go to the Fargo Theatre every weekend. Man, it felt good to say that.

4. I'm done with fashion.

Man, these things are a bit negative. It's hot in my apartment, so I think it's effecting this post a bit, I apologize.

When I say I'm done with fashion, I am referring to me actively trying to look cooler than other people. Hey, I'm okay with the fact that other beautiful people out there have the will power to eat and exercise so their bodies simply become the display case for a gorgeous outfit. I appreciate it! But I'm done pretending that shopping at H&M isn't just shopping for a look that someone else created three years ago and a couple corporations caught onto and manufactured a bit more quickly than JC Penny. No, that is Not Fashion. I miss finding beautiful stuff at thrift stores, and particularly being around artists, cause they always had the best wardrobes, no matter how tight or armpit stained the t-shirt might be. Since I get a (sort of) adult paycheck, it must be spent on adult clothing. Goodbye Savers and Dakota Boys Ranch, hello Anthropologie (waaay overpriced for quality of fabric) and The Limited (bleccch). If I had more money and time, I'd be into it. I'm too poor. Those are my many excuses. Also, I'm bad at accessorizing.

5. I'm slowly beginning to understand the impact of people losing a pet.

Really, this should be another post, so I'll make it short: our family went through about twelve dogs in fifteen years. Cats? Hmm. About...three? If you count house cats. Wild scattery barn cats do not count, and neither do beef cattle, chickens, and ESPECIALLY not rabbits (who eat their own babies and poop for-ev-er).

6. I really like writing on this blog.

I've never kept a log of stuff before, and though others might find it tedious or inconsequential, I feel closer to my family because of it. And I try not to swear or talk about inappropriate things like shaving my legs so my Grandpa can read it.

I'll leave this (crabby) post with a pic for the weekend: Some nuts that my friend Morgan decorated with yarn and googly eyes two Christmas's ago. (See why I miss Fargo?)

Hey Ruth!

I have been a lurker on your blog for a while now and feel the urge to come clean!

David and I make the "I have an MBA, I KNO" joke on a weekly basis.

=)
