Tonight I had the best run I've had in a long time.
Instead of pre-plotting my course on google pedometer, I decided to take corners at will. Instead of heading to the hipster friendly sections of our neighborhood or circling Humboldt Park, I headed west to the family friendly 89% Puerto Rican section of Logan Square. Then I headed north, and then southwest on Milwaukee, a busy through street lined with shops, Spanish bakeries, and produce stands. Smells were enticing and sweet, and I was running at 7 instead of 6 p.m., which meant people were either walking to the pubs or heading home for the night after grocery shopping. Lovely.
After running with Liz Stine over the fourth, my form is way better, and my arms were nice and low instead of crunched up Tyrannosaurus Rex style. Which made them all the better to wave with.
I gave about fifty runner-nods (a very focused, serious movement with the chin coordinated with eye contact), verbal "hello!"s to all elderly men with kindly smiles, and waved at several toddlers and puppies. I even waved at three Chinese restaurant owners who gave me three large waves and smiles back.
It was only 3.8 miles, but I finally felt like I was running in the big city and I just flew. And about three blocks from home, the sky opened up and cooled me down with a nice summer shower.
Ahhhhh...now for salty edamame and a cold beer post shower, pre-Harry Potter Wii combat. Boo yah.

i've decided my left arm/hand could very well be an elongated t-rex arm since it is basically non-functioning except when typing on a computer. then it knows what to do. i can't even believe how right-handed i am. i'm glad the arms are working out for you. ready to run together in a couple of weekends?!?!?
yay weekend chicago running!
hope your rhubarb welcomes turn out delicious.
Yay Ruth!
You are doing great just 92 days to go!
I prefer think of the countdown by the days because you know 92 is a higher number than 13. Which tricks my still tired from Fargo mind into thinking I have pleeeeenty of time :)
